Workshop golden gate cloning (1)

The EBIC team at University of East Anglia hosted a hugely successful workshop on Golden-Gate Cloning, spearheaded by our early career researchers, Amanda Hopes and Harry Maguire.

Sessions covered included:

  • Golden-gate Cloning
  • Designing knock-out mutants
  • Designing constructs for knockouts
  • Designing mutants for heterologous gene expression
  • Dedicated morning of one-to-one sessions for work on personal projects

We were also very pleased to have a fantastic presentation from Manuel Lera-Ramirez on OpenCloning, the Open Source web application to plan and document DNA engineering. You can learn more about OpenCloning and Manuel’s work here.

Congratulations to the team at UEA!

Attendees at the workshop

The workshop went really well. We’ve had a lot of positive feedback. Several groups are now ready to start making their mutants and have requested plasmids to begin cloning. Following the workshop, we’re offering support with design, cloning and transformation, and are currently putting together additional materials and resources based on the feedback we received.
