Southampton Science & Engineering Festival

We have had another fantastic year at the Southampton Science & Engineering Festival (SOTSEF), where over 5k visitors are able to attend for free and enjoy hundreds of exhibits and activities.

This year EBIC collaborated with NBIC – National Biofilm Innovation Centre on an activity entitled ‘The Power of Microbial Cities’ where we focused on how we are utilising microorganisms and biofilms to clean up the environment.

Working with NBIC was a fantastic opportunity, and this year our activity was spearheaded by our ECR Rep Lyuboslava Harkova, who did a wonderful job leading and co-ordinating efforts – congratulations Lyuboslava!

Events like this provide a valuable opportunity to reach a broad audience and discover current thoughts on engineering biology and discuss our exciting research. Attending SOTSEF enabled us to connect with curious minds, showcase our work, and play an active role in one of the UK’s most vibrant science and innovation events – with our thanks to University of Southampton for creating such an important and well-run event yet again.
