UK-US Engineering Biology for Critical Minerals Symposium, Washington, D.C
At the start of June Elemental Hub co-organised the UK–US Engineering Biology for Critical Minerals Symposium at the British Embassy in Washington, D.C., bringing together researchers, policymakers and industry leaders to explore how engineering biology can support more sustainable and resilient critical mineral supply chains. Discussions focused on bioleaching, biorecovery and strengthening transatlantic collaboration, with a joint UK–US report on the symposium’s key outcomes due later this year.
Continuing on from this important symposium Professor Louise Horsfall (EBIC & University of Edinburgh) was invited to speak at both the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and Universidad of Antofagasta on ‘Engineering a Bio-enabled Circular Economy for Critical Metals’.
